"So for this week's essay, I want all of you to describe the days of the week, as if they are people." Says my English teacher while pacing at the back of the room. "I want them in by Thursday's class. Class dismissed."
This must be the first class which I leave with a smile on my face, I think to myself. I start making the list in my head.
Sunday: The mellow guy who relaxes in front of the TV after going to church because he doesn't have a thing in the world that has to be done.
Monday: The depressed person who tries convincing you to just call in sick.
Tuesday: The person who nags you to start planning for the coming weekend.
Wednesday: The optimist who goes around school just saying "HUMP DAAYYY!"
Thursday: The Grumpy-Guss who is sick of waiting for the weekend.
Friday: That friend who is never sad and always happy about anything and everything.
Saturday: The doer who gets over his head in the projects he wants done before Sunday comes.
I must have been smiling like a fool, because my friend comes over and asks if I'm okay.
"Oh, yeah. I just completed my English 'essay' in my head, so I'm quite happy"
"Oh, good for you, Jack."
"Thanks. Hey, what are we going to do this weekend? Oh my. I just got nagged by Tuesday."
"What are you talking about?"
I grin and say: "Tuesday was just nagging me."
He just stares and says "What?!"
"It's the essay. Mr. Winkle wants us to describe each of the days of the week like its a person, and I think Tuesday is that person who wants you to plan the weekend and keeps on nagging until you do."
"Ahhhh. I see, I think."
